Jesus always focused on the forest, the big picture, the “real” aspects of life. But the church leaders of His day, the people, even His disciples seemed to only see the trees before them.
We often miss God’s blessing when we focus on trees (individual problems, challenges, needs). We get so busy with tree trimming, that we miss the majesty of the forest. And, we miss God’s purpose just as these church leaders did. They only saw trees while talking to the creator of the forest, in fact, the Creator of the universe!
Mankind is inherently short-sighted. Ever since the garden with Adam and Eve we find ourselves focusing on trees. We miss the deeper meanings of Gods word, of life, of our purpose when we focus on the superficial details. Look beyond! Ask God through the power of the Holy Spirit who leads us into all truth, to open our eyes to the forest! Let Him remove the blinders so that you may see the glory of each day in a new light! See God’s hand working in lives all around you, and in you. We are not “tree trimmers”… We are forest managers! But first, we must be able to see the forest.
Jesus said “my kingdom is not of this world”. If He is indeed our king, we should not be satisfied with seeing only this world. We should seek His world, His kingdom, His vision, His understanding!
